As co-founder of Learning Language, Suzette has played an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds and professional fields.
Edwin Portillo earned a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Communications from Universidad Nueva San Salvador. During his university years, he worked with international journalists covering the civil war in El Salvador, providing translation, proofreading, and Spanish pronunciation support. These experiences sparked a lifelong interest in language instruction and cross-cultural communication.
Edwin later joined the British pharmaceutical company Fisons, where he advanced to become General Manager for El Salvador. Since founding Learning Language in 2005, Suzette and Edwin have worked together to provide Spanish instruction for students, travelers, healthcare professionals, attorneys, executives, retirees, writers, and organizations seeking practical communication skills. Their teaching philosophy emphasizes meaningful conversation, cultural awareness, and the confidence to communicate effectively in both personal and professional settings.
Over the years, Learning Language has also provided Spanish language training, coaching, and consulting services to professionals and organizations in healthcare, media, entertainment, insurance, aerospace, and other industries.
